Spud Page

Spud Page explores Acts 2 and the rapid growth of the early church following Peter’s first sermon. Around 3,000 people joined the church, raising the question: how did this movement grow so powerfully? Spud identifies four key features of the early church: they met together regularly, lived with shared purpose, worshipped through teaching, fellowship, communion and prayer, and practised radical generosity.

Their inclusiveness was central, drawing people from different nations, cultures, classes and backgrounds into one shared family. Their generosity was equally compelling, extending beyond the church to anyone in need. But Spud stresses this was not achieved by willpower alone. The early church grew because they modelled their lives on Jesus and were empowered by the Holy Spirit.
